The types of claims that are covered would fall under either hull physical damage (sinking, stranding, collision, lightning strikes, theft including the dinghy/tender, hurricane) or protection & indemnity (injury to passengers and crew).
The navigational limits must be declared to insurers, but the following is the standard:
Waters of the East Coast, USA for no more than 90 days per policy year, and the Caribbean Sea excluding Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, and Haiti. Not exceeding 250 miles offshore.
